New Patient Assessment at Round House Podiatry
What happens in a new patient assessment appointment?
New patient assessment appointments can be daunting for some people, so in this month’s blog, we will explain what happens in our new patient appointments, and what to expect when you attend the foot and ankle clinic.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
When you book a new patient assessment appointment with us, you will be sent a confirmation email with all the appointment details. Inside that email will be a link for you to complete a New Patient assessment form, which will be inputted directly into your patient records. The link will also be sent out in your reminder email, which is sent 48 hours before your appointment, so do not worry if you have forgotten to complete it when you booked your appointment.
Why do you ask so many questions on the forms?
As Podiatrists, we need to take a concise medical history from our patients as a part of general health assessment. There are lots of medical conditions and medications that can affect our treatments, so we need to be aware of these. Please note that your records with us are confidential, and we do not share them with anyone other than other medical professionals, and only then with your consent.
What do I need to do when I arrive at the clinic?
When you arrive, please take a seat in the waiting room, and we will call you in at your appointment time.
What happens during my appointment?
Firstly. We will review your new patient assessment form, checking consent for treatment and medical history.
We will then run through your concerns, and why you have booked the appointment.
Next, we will carry out any assessments we need to, discuss any diagnoses, and formulate a treatment plan for your condition. New Patients over the age of 50 or with below this age with certain medical conditions will have a doppler circulation check carried out.
Other than some of our Cosmetic Podiatry procedures, most treatments can be carried out in your initial appointment, including Swift Verruca Treatment.
What happens then?
For some people, a one-off appointment may be sufficient to resolve their problem. For others, a course of treatment may be required. If so, follow-up treatments will be booked for you to enable continued care.
That all sounds good, how do I book in?
You can book online to schedule an appointment with us – please select New Patient Assessment if you have not been to see us before, or if it has been more than 2 years since your last visit to us.
